Newman Haas Racing Appraisal

The legend of what Carl Haas brought to the world of auto racing can only be described as historical. From the early days as a club racer, he was competitive and focused. The sport of American road racing was really starting to take off. There were many new tracks springing up and amateur racers were using production cars to compete and often drove those same cars home after the races. It was in the 60’s that Carl Haas was given the distribution of Hewland gearboxes and Lola race cars. In the seventies he became a racing team owner. In 1983 Paul Newman co founded the team with Carl and went on to win 8 Indy car championships. His list of world class drivers was long and impressive. Men such as Mario & Michael Andretti, Brian Redman, Nigel Mansell , Sebastian Bourdais, Christano da Matta and James Hinchcliffe just to name a few. I was selected to appraise the entire inventory of race cars totaling more than 50 in 2013 I feel honored that I was able to work on this historic collection and sense the accomplishment of such a devoted organization.
